Treepz, Nigerian Mobility Startup, Extends Services to Kenya.

10 Jun 2023

Treepz, the mobility startup, has expanded its operations to Kenya, making it the fourth country the company will operate in following launches in Uganda and Ghana. Treepz will offer its operational services in Nairobi and later in Mombasa. The company's new country manager for Kenya, Samar Patel, will lead the team. Treepz has been receiving support from its investors, including GIIG Africa Fund and MoAngels, Roselake VC, Unpopular VC, Goodwater Capital, and BKR Capital, and has recently celebrated its 3rd anniversary. Treepz also won the 2022 African Startup Awards as the Industry Tech Company of the Year.
Onyeka Akumah, the Co-Founder and CEO of Treepz, expressed his excitement about the addition of Samar to their team and the launch of Treepz Kenya in Nairobi, stating that their efforts are focused on building a centralized solution across the four countries they operate in and providing Africans with excellent mobility services for their personal and business needs.

Treepz began operations in Lagos, Nigeria, in September 2019 and then expanded to Ghana and Uganda. It raised $1.2 million just two months after completing the Techstars Toronto Accelerator Program and later raised an additional $1.6 million, bringing the total to $2.8 million in seed funding with new investors coming on board.
Despite the economic downturn caused by the global pandemic in 2020, Treepz claims to have completed more than 2 million customer journeys with over 150,000 registered riders and over 2,000 drivers (heroes) across East and West Africa. The company has gotten over 960 vehicles registered on its platform and has helped its riders commute more than 480,000 times in less than two years.
In addition, Treepz has been expanding its offerings to digitize traditional bus companies through its partnerships with CMS Taxi and Motor Nigeria Limited. The Transportation Operator System provides bus parks and bus operators with the necessary technology to digitize their services while increasing their customer base and managing revenue.
Treepz's expansion into Kenya is expected to bring more convenience to Kenyans and improve the country's transportation system.
