African electric vehicle (EV) company, Spiro, has officially launched its operations in Ogun State, Nigeria.
The launch event, held at the Arcade Ground of the Ogun State Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was graced by the presence of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Minister of Transportation Sen. Said Alkali, along with other government officials, traditional rulers, industry leaders, and key stakeholders.
Spiro’s entry into Ogun State marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s electric mobility sector. With over 17,000 electric motorbikes already deployed across sub-Saharan Africa, Spiro plans to extend its footprint to eight major Nigerian provinces, including Abeokuta, Ibadan, Lagos, and Abuja.
The company's model focuses on battery swapping, providing riders with access to Spiro’s swapping stations, fast and slow chargers, and home charging solutions. In Abeokuta, three battery swap stations have been established at MKO Abiola Stadium, Pansheke Skating Ground, and Oke Sokori. Each station can charge 24 batteries simultaneously, supporting a total of 72 batteries across all three locations.
