Nigerian Government Awards ₦225 Million in Grants to Boost AI Innovation.

Nigeria's Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, unveiled the 45 recipients of the National AI Research Grant Scheme (NAIRS). This groundbreaking initiative pumps fuel into the nation's AI engine, empowering 45 leading researchers and organizations with grants of up to ₦5 million each to propel Nigeria's AI ecosystem onto the global stage.

"These exceptional recipients emerged from a rigorous vetting process led by 25 global AI luminaries," stated Minister Tijani. "Their proposals tackle critical national challenges and hold immense potential to revolutionize industries, empower communities, and spark a wave of innovation."


The program, open from October 13th to November 15th, witnessed an outpouring of applications, showcasing the depth and breadth of Nigeria's AI talent. Among the 45 chosen, 11 startups stand out, poised to disrupt their respective fields:

  • Nurse Oge: Bringing AI-powered patient monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment closer to communities.
  • Farmspeak Technology Limited: Leveraging AI-driven insights to combat poultry mortality and enhance climate resilience.
  • Lendsqr: Democratizing access to finance through AI and alternative data sources, paving the way for faster, bias-free credit decisions.
  • Edunetix: Shaping the future of learning with AI-powered personalized education and career guidance.
  • IDB Analytics: Utilizing AI and geofencing technology to tackle security challenges in conflict zones.
  • Gwin Technologies Limited: Putting AI in the palm of your hand with a smart mobile diagnostic tool for animal health.
  • Aurelius: Harnessing AI to automate cancer treatment planning, paving the way for better healthcare outcomes.
  • Quantum Innovative Tech Solutions Ltd: Empowering individuals with real-time AI insights and anomaly detection for personal health management.
  • Life-Elixir Computers: Developing region-specific AI algorithms for faster and more accurate cancer diagnosis.
  • Cardio Intel: Democratizing early detection of cardiovascular diseases through a personalized AI app.
