Stellantis, the owner of Jeep, Maserati, Peugeot, and other luxury automakers, has finalized its purchase of aiMotive, a pioneer in the fields of artificial intelligence and autonomous driving.
Chief Software Officer Yves Bonnefont of Stellantis said, "Thanks to aiMotive's world-class competence, we will boost our artificial intelligence and autonomous driving core technology, extend our worldwide talent pool, and support the mid-term growth of our all-new STLA AutoDrive platform."
Stellantis will own a majority stake in aiMotive, but the company will continue to function independently under the leadership of its creator, László Kishonti, who will also continue in his role as CEO after the purchase.
The portfolio of aiMotive contains three products: aiData, aiWare, and aiSim. The business will go on, as usual, providing these kinds of technological services to external clients. The aiMotive lineup is expanding with a fourth product. The aiDrive system is an all-in-one piece of software for driverless cars.
The aiMotive advancements will be included in the STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive technology platforms that are being created by Stellantis. In 2024, when all-new car designs are released, this will finally be put into action.
