Konsume, an innovative AI-powered platform dedicated to promoting healthy living, has been crowned the winner of the Generative AI Network (GAIN) hackathon, organized by Instig Labs, a business and tech incubation outfit. This prestigious event aims to equip university students with practical experience in Artificial Intelligence through workshops, collaborative projects, and an inter-university hackathon.
Empowering Students in AI
The GAIN initiative empowers students to build professional portfolios that enhance their career opportunities while connecting them with global AI companies. According to Michael Osumo, Project Manager at Instig Labs, the GAIN Hackathon serves as a flagship event where students address pressing challenges across various sectors—including healthcare, finance, and education—using AI-driven solutions. Participating teams develop innovative prototypes, competing for cash prizes and opportunities for incubation.
Judging and Evaluation
The hackathon featured a panel of judges, including Manasseh Egedegbe, Derek Cheung, Taiwo Sulaimon, Joshua Udensi, and Eric Ezenwanne. Eric, the founder of Keyz Health—a USA-based health services company and partner of the program—remarked on the impressive quality of the products developed by the teams, stating, "These are software that can compete at the global stage."
Judging criteria included clarity, innovation, technical execution, feasibility, value, presentation, and the overall impact of the AI solutions. Taiwo Sulaimon, co-founder of GetCrib.co, emphasized that the achievements of the teams not only reflect technical excellence but also showcase AI's potential in addressing real-world problems.
