GTBank to Temporarily Shut Down App for System Upgrade

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has announced a temporary shutdown of its app and banking services as part of a system upgrade. This transition to a more advanced core banking system will cause disruptions starting on Friday, October 11.

In an official statement, GTBank revealed that all branches across Nigeria will close early at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 11, with normal banking services resuming by 9:00 AM on Monday, October 14.

Additionally, the bank's digital banking services will be affected for 11 hours, from 10:00 PM on Sunday, October 13, until 9:00 AM on Monday, October 14. During this period, only essential services such as transfers, bill payments, airtime, and data purchases will remain available.

The bank stated that the system upgrade is aimed at enhancing customer experience and improving service delivery. In recent developments, Zenith and Access Bank have also announced temporary shutdowns of their digital banking systems over this weekend, while Sterling Bank conducted its system upgrade in early September.
