54gene Inc has appointed Ron Chiarello as its new Chief Executive Officer of the health tech company.
Ron Chiarello brings a wealth of experience that should aid 54gene in meeting its objectives, having served as co-CEO earlier this year. He was formerly the founder, CEO, and chairman of Alveo Technologies. He also founded Jetalon Solutions, Etalon Technologies, and Orion Metrology, and worked in research positions at Stanford University and Argonne National Laboratory.
Tobi Oke, Managing Partner of V8 Capital Partners, a Lagos-based African enterprise tech venture capital fund, has been appointed to 54gene's Board of Directors. Before founding V8, he worked as the head of Intel Capital (Africa) and in leadership positions at Standard Chartered Private Equity, HSBC, and Booz Allen.
Founded by Dr. Abasi Ene-Obong in 2019, 54gene, a health-tech company is working to bridge disparity gaps in genomic research data. The company derives actionable genetic insights from research cohorts in the world's most genetically diverse populations to improve therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostics development, availability, and efficacy.
Considering its influential partnership and clinical networks, 54gene has access to patients to actualize its mission. The company has received $45 million in funding from leading investors such as Adjuvant Capital, V8 Capital, KdT Ventures, and Cathay AfricInvest Innovation Fund. With the recent leadership changes, the company said it would explore new strategic partnerships and raise additional capital.
