In a statement released on Monday, the United States announced an updated visa policy for Nigerians. Starting from March 1st, 2023, Nigerian tourist visa applicants will now be eligible for a five-year travel authorization, as opposed to the former two-year limit.
This new policy is in line with Nigeria's most current visa reciprocity policy with the US. Additionally, the statement listed those eligible for no-interview for visa renewals, including applicants for a B1/B2, F, M, J (academic only), H, L, or C1/D (combined only) visa
The U.S. Mission has assured that the visa application fee, currently USD 160, will not increase as a result of the increased visa validity. The mission continues to offer no-interview visa renewals to those who meet the eligibility criteria, with appointments readily available.
This move is one of several initiatives taken by the United States to reduce visa appointment wait times in Nigeria. The U.S. Mission is optimistic that this updated visa policy will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and facilitate more business and tourism opportunities.
