South African Tech Talent Hub OfferZen Secures €4M, Revamps Platform and Leadership.

29 Feb 2024

OfferZen, a premier platform connecting tech companies with skilled developers in South Africa, has secured €4 million in pre-Series B funding to fuel its growth and unveil major product advancements. The fresh capital injection from prominent investors Invenfin and AI Capital will empower OfferZen to enhance its offerings for both companies and developers in the months ahead.

"We're thrilled to announce this €4 million funding round from an exceptional group of investors," said Philip Joubert, OfferZen's former CEO. "Their expertise and financial backing will be instrumental in driving product advancements and accelerating our growth trajectory."

Invenfin boasts a team of seasoned venture capitalists, including Peter van der Zee and Theo van den Berg, known for their early backing of Bolt. AI Capital features tech and insurance veteran Roger Grobler, former Hollard insurance CEO Nic Kohler, financial titan Michael Jordaan (ex-FNB CEO and founder of Montegray Capital), and telecom expert Willem Roos (founder of Outsurance and former Rain Telco CEO).

This latest funding follows OfferZen's 2021 Series A raise of €4.5 million from Base Capital, marking the company's first external investment since its 2015 launch. The injection fueled OfferZen's European expansion, solidifying its position as a key player in the global tech talent landscape.

Shifting Gears: Empowering Developers, Transforming the Platform

Beyond securing investment, OfferZen is unveiling significant updates to its leadership and product roadmap. Moving away from a fixed-fee subscription model, the company is transitioning to a more dynamic, proactive approach focused on placing developers at the helm of the hiring process.

"We're excited to unveil a new chapter for OfferZen," Joubert explained. "Our revamped platform empowers developers to proactively explore job opportunities tailored to their preferences, leveraging AI recommendations based on their skills and interests. Companies, in turn, benefit from attracting top talent through a streamlined application process and AI-powered candidate matching."

A New CEO Takes the Wheel: Matt Beck Navigates OfferZen's Future

To spearhead this exciting transformation, OfferZen welcomes Matt Beck as its new CEO. Beck, who previously served as the company's VP of Marketing, played a pivotal role in scaling the business and refining its brand identity.

"Matt has been a driving force behind OfferZen's recent success," Joubert stated. "His marketing expertise, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to our values make him the perfect person to lead the company into its next phase of growth. I'm excited to support him in this new chapter."

With €4 million in fresh funding, a reimagined product approach, and a dynamic new leader at the helm, OfferZen is poised to revolutionize the tech talent landscape in South Africa and beyond, empowering developers and companies to connect seamlessly and unlock their full potential.
