After the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) implemented a ban on taxi services at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja due to ongoing association conflicts, passengers are now voicing their demand for the return of e-hailing services to ease their travel challenges. In response to FAAN's tweet about the ban, passengers have expressed their desire for e-hailing services to be permanently reinstated even after the conflict has been resolved. They firmly believe that reintroducing services like Bolt and Uber would be highly beneficial, and they have recommended this course of action to the authorities.
Among the responses to the tweet, Adesina Adeniji-Adele, a user, shared his opinion, stating, "FAAN Taxi was unnecessary and impractical if you ask me. Bring back Bolt." Another responder echoed the sentiment, expressing that the decision to ban e-hailing services was long overdue. The user also pointed out that FAAN taxis were even more expensive and inconsiderate in comparison. They wrote, "This is long overdue!!! FAAN was way too expensive and inconsiderate. Bring back Bolt and Rida!"
Numerous passengers have suggested that e-hailing companies such as Bolt and Uber should be allowed to operate alongside FAAN taxis once the situation is resolved. They hope that this healthy competition will lead to lower fares charged by FAAN, which currently benefits from a monopoly on the airport taxi business. "Honestly, the wahala is too much. Just arrange with one Bolt/Uber driver and call him when you arrive at the airport. When I call the Uber guy, he'll just come as if we know each other, and we move. They are giving Bolt and Uber guys wahala for that airport, no matter how small," one particular tweet expressed.
@faan_official faction in a federal government facility? Is it that y'all top officials are blind when you travel out of the country? Just give the contract to Uber or Bolt, no need to order online. All arriving passengers get into the car on the turn then the driver starts the trip," someone else remarked. Due to an ongoing factional conflict among operators, FAAN has suspended airport vehicle rental services at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. FAAN suggests that customers use e-hailing or other forms of alternate transportation.
"The management of FAAN regrets any inconvenience this necessary suspension may cause our esteemed passengers, airport users, and the general public. Normal Car Hire Services will resume as soon as their differences are resolved," the FAAN statement concluded. As passengers persist in their demands for the reinstatement of e-hailing services, FAAN faces the challenging task of navigating the conflict among car hire operators while also ensuring a seamless and convenient travel experience for all airport users. The resolution of this issue is crucial to providing travelers with diverse and reliable transportation options, fostering healthy competition, and ultimately elevating the overall airport travel experience.
