Olusegun Maleghemi Leads Ouranos Lab's Future of African Tech

West African IT infrastructure services provider Ouranos Technologies has launched Ouranos Lab, a venture studio aimed at creating the future of African enterprise technology. Ouranos Lab has received a $2 million investment from its parent company and will be led by Chief Innovation Officer Olusegun Maleghemi, who brings extensive experience in technology and innovation from his previous roles.

Ouranos Lab will focus on developing innovative solutions in areas such as data and identity security, AI and machine learning, connected devices, IoT, blockchain, business process reengineering, and robotics process automation. The studio will work closely with startups and entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life through product development support, funding, access to new markets, and mentorship.

According to market intelligence firm Briter Bridges, Africa's technology and innovation sector raised $5.4 billion in 2022 and is experiencing rapid growth. Ouranos Technologies is looking to bridge the gap by investing in companies building innovative and scalable solutions in the future of African enterprise solutions. Before joining Ouranos Lab, Maleghemi served as the Director of Incubation at the Nest Innovation Technology Park, where he provided support for startups building impactful solutions. This experience will be instrumental in his role as the head of Ouranos Lab, where he will focus on fostering innovation in the African enterprise solutions space and providing a platform for entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life.

The choice of Olusegun Maleghemi as Chief Innovation Officer was strategic. With his extensive experience in technology and innovation and his focus on providing a platform for entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life, Olusegun is well-suited to lead Ouranos Lab and drive growth for the company in Africa.

Maleghemi also has extensive leadership experience and a strong academic background, with an MSc in Innovation and Technology Management from the University of Bath, and is a PLSC-45 alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru and the Lagos Business School.

With his impressive background and deep knowledge of technology and innovation, Maleghemi is well-equipped to lead Ouranos Lab and drive growth for the company in Africa. His focus will be on working closely with startups and entrepreneurs to ensure that their products and solutions are successful and suited for the future of Africa’s enterprise solutions industry.

Maleghemi is well-suited to lead Ouranos Lab, having received an MSc in Innovation and Technology Management from the University of Bath and senior leadership experience from previous roles. Ouranos Technologies currently operates in three African markets—Nigeria, Benin, and Cameroon—and is focused on increasing its footprint to six countries in Africa by 2023.
