Norrsken's "Impact/100" Presents Top 100 Impact Startups

12 Jun 2024

In New York City's Times Square, something incredible is happening. Norrsken, a global nonprofit foundation, has teamed up with Nasdaq, a big tech company, to put on a special event. They're using the huge screens in Times Square to show off the 100 best startups that are making a positive impact. This event is part of Norrsken's yearly list called "Impact/100."

Norrsken is all about helping entrepreneurs who want to do good things for the world. They're based in Kigali, and they've brought together some amazing startups to show their impressive solutions to important problems.
"Impact/100" is a list of startups that are doing things to make the world better. These startups are like super-smart problem solvers. They're finding new and exciting ways to make big issues, like the ones the United Nations cares about, get better.
The cool thing about "Impact/100" is that it's not just a list; it's a source of hope and inspiration. It reminds us that even when things are tough, people are making a positive difference. These startups come from lots of different fields, like building, clean energy, healthcare, and more.

One of the startups, Zipline, is changing how things are delivered using drones. They started in Rwanda in 2016 and have been flying medical supplies to hard-to-reach places. This helps save lives in areas where it's tough to get medical help.

Africa is also part of this big event. There are four startups from Africa on the list: Apollo Agriculture and Kapu from Kenya, and Curacel and Sunfi from Nigeria. This shows that Africa is full of smart ideas that can change the world.
The startups on "Impact/100" were picked from a really big group of over 700 startups. A special group of judges will choose one winner, and people can vote for another winner. This event reminds us that together, we can make the world a better place by supporting great ideas and people who are doing important work.
