NITDA intends to assist Tinubu's employment creation efforts

NITDA Director-General Kashifu Abdullahi Inuwa expresses confidence in the face of AI-induced job loss fears in human resource management. Inuwa's confidence in the face of AI is fortified by his substantial expertise encompassing policy formulation, administrative acumen, growth management, talent development, solutions architecture, resource mobilization, and strategic execution.

Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in 2003, Inuwa embarked on his professional journey as a Network Engineer at Galaxy Backbone Limited, a government-owned IT network service provider. This role served as a robust training ground for his skills.

Inuwa, a Senior Network Engineer and Lead Solution Architect, designed internet backend solutions for clients and led the Central Bank of Nigeria's Technology Architecture Repository. He later became the Technical Assistant to the Director-General at NITDA, where he coordinated strategic goals and was appointed Director-General in 2019. Inuwa's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Tech4Covid committee, digital technologies, and the NITDA virtual academy, showcased his exceptional abilities.

Under Inuwa's stewardship, NITDA has trained nearly a million Nigerians in diverse digital skills and granted scholarships for advanced degrees to 49 individuals. Notably, Inuwa launched a program aiming to train one million software developers within 18 months. The agency's Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) 2021-2024, centered on seven pillars to transform Nigeria into a sustainable digital economy, is being commendably executed.

NITDA and Inuwa accelerate ICT sector growth, raising Nigeria's GDP from 12% to 18.4% in the third quarter of 2022. and in response to President Bola Tinubu's commitment to creating one million digital jobs, Inuwa leverages PwC's report, emphasizing that Nigeria's greatest resources are its human talents. NITDA aims to position Nigeria as a global talent hub, given the substantial global demand for developers.

The agency focuses on training and nurturing youths to excel in international contexts, exemplified by the NITDA Coursera scholarship. Inuwa envisions technology development and innovation clusters across Nigeria's states, aligned with the Nigeria Startup Act, fostering job creation. Tangible reforms, including the Nigerian Start-up Act, Nigeria Data Strategy, National Blockchain Policy, and National Outsourcing Strategy, are contributing to employment opportunities.

Further initiatives like the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) reflect NITDA's commitment to technological advancement. Inuwa emphasizes the agency's goal of cultivating a conducive environment for startups and businesses to thrive, akin to the conditions that attract registration in places like Delaware. Inuwa's unwavering leadership and strategic acumen are shaping NITDA's impact on Nigeria's digital transformation, transcending fears of AI-induced job losses and propelling the nation towards a prosperous digital economy.
