Nigeria’s Anambra and Lagos States Forge Strategic IT Partnership.

27 Feb 2024

In a landmark move for Nigeria's digital future, Anambra and Lagos states, two of the country's economic powerhouses, have announced a collaborative partnership to strengthen their respective IT ecosystems. This strategic alliance, born from discussions during the recent Reverse Trade Mission in the US, aims to address pressing challenges, foster innovation, and bolster cybersecurity across both states.

This partnership aligns perfectly with the Federal Government's call for digitalization, echoed by Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. Dr. Tijani emphasized the need for robust ICT infrastructure and data sharing among government agencies to combat fraud, improve economic efficiency, and optimize governance.

The Anambra-Lagos collaboration will focus on several key areas:

  • Cybersecurity Collaboration: Both states will implement new methods and strategies to fortify IT infrastructure and counter evolving cyber threats.

  • Protection of IT Assets: Advanced measures will be introduced to safeguard critical IT systems and mitigate cybercrime risks.

  • Expansion of IT Service Platforms: Exploring cutting-edge cloud solutions like AWS will enhance existing IT service platforms.

  • Digitalization and Customer Service: Initiatives will be developed to improve service delivery and citizen engagement through digital channels.

  • Upskilling the IT Workforce: Joint efforts will bolster the pool of skilled professionals in the IT sector to meet growing demand.

Expressing his optimism, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Tunbosun Alake, stated, "This partnership is a crucial step in fortifying our technological capabilities. Together with Anambra, we aim to create a resilient IT infrastructure that thrives in the face of future challenges."

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, MD/CEO of Anambra State ICT Agency, echoed the sentiment, believing "Collaborating with Lagos is an opportunity to leverage each other's strengths and elevate our IT services market. Together, we can achieve technological excellence and contribute significantly to Nigeria's digital transformation."

This groundbreaking partnership between Anambra and Lagos sets a precedent for collaborative efforts in advancing Nigeria's technological landscape. By combining their resources and expertise, these two states are poised to make tangible strides in the IT sector, benefiting not only their citizens but also the entire nation.
