Nigerian Creators Now Eligible for Facebook and Instagram Ad Revenue.

12 Jul 2024

Nigerian content creators now have the opportunity to earn money through ad revenue on Facebook and Instagram, thanks to a new eligibility update.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced on Thursday, June 27, that content creators in Nigeria can now access monetization features. Before this change, Nigerian creators could only participate in Facebook monetization if their pages were managed from an already eligible country.

In 2023, Meta introduced the "Ads on Reels" program, which offers performance-based payouts based on reel viewership, to creators in the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Korea. With this latest update, creators in Nigeria can monetize their content through various means, including Facebook's in-stream ads, live ads, ads on reels, bonuses, and subscriptions.

This update follows Meta's announcement in March during Nick Clegg's visit to Nigeria. Clegg, Meta's President of Global Affairs, highlighted the company's commitment to expanding monetization opportunities. "Monetization won't be limited to just Instagram. Nigerian creators eligible to use our monetization products will also be able to monetize on Facebook," Meta stated. "Our team is dedicated to rolling out these features for Nigerian creators by June."
