InfiniLink Secures $10M in Seed Funding to Enhance AI-Driven Data Center Connectivity

04 Apr 2025

Cairo, Egypt – InfiniLink, an innovative semiconductor startup specializing in optical connectivity solutions, has successfully raised $10 million in seed funding to accelerate the development of its cutting-edge technologies. This investment comes at a pivotal time as artificial intelligence (AI) workloads and data-intensive applications continue to push the limits of traditional data transmission methods, demanding increased bandwidth and improved energy efficiency in data centers.

Founded in 2022, InfiniLink is at the forefront of designing advanced optical data connectivity chips that enhance the efficiency of data transmission. As demand for high-speed data processing grows, the company aims to provide solutions that address the energy consumption and scalability challenges faced by modern data centers.

InfiniLink has developed an innovative Silicon Photonics-based integrated optical transceiver chiplet (iOTC) technology. This state-of-the-art innovation allows for low-power pluggable transceiver modules and high-bandwidth-density co-packaged optical engines (CPO), which are essential for enabling high-speed and energy-efficient connectivity in data centers.

The seed funding round was co-led by MediaTek, a global fabless semiconductor company, and Sukna Ventures, a Saudi-based venture capital firm. Other notable investors include Egypt Ventures and M Empire Angels. With this financial backing, InfiniLink aims to enhance its research and development efforts, focusing on leveraging its expertise in Analog Mixed-Signal and Photonics to improve data center connectivity.

Ahmed Aboul-Ella, co-founder and CEO of InfiniLink, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with MediaTek, describing it as a crucial step towards accelerating the commercialization of the company's optical connectivity solutions. "Partnering with MediaTek not only strengthens our technological capabilities but also positions us for significant growth in the market for AI-driven data center solutions," Aboul-Ella stated.

George Chien, Senior General Manager at MediaTek, highlighted the strong relationship between MediaTek and InfiniLink, which has developed over the past three years and contributed to the establishment of MediaTek Egypt. "This investment signifies our commitment to expanding our collaboration and enhancing innovation in the region," Chien mentioned.

Sukna Ventures also expressed its confidence in InfiniLink's potential to meet the increasing energy demands of AI-driven data centers. General Partner Waleed Alballaa noted, "InfiniLink's optical connectivity technology perfectly aligns with our mission to support high-potential startups in the MENA region and facilitate their global expansion."

With this seed funding and the support of its investors, InfiniLink is poised to accelerate its product development, expand its presence in international markets, and meet the growing demand for AI-driven connectivity solutions. As the company forges ahead, it aims to redefine the landscape of data center connectivity and establish itself as a leader in the optical semiconductor industry.
