How to book train tickets online for Lagos-Ibadan in 2023

27 Nov 2023

In 2023, the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) introduced an e-ticketing platform for the Lagos-Ibadan train route. This system streamlines the booking process and makes it convenient for passengers to secure their train tickets.

Things to note:

  • You can only book a day ahead.
  • Business class tickets are ₦6,500 for both children and adults.
  • First-class tickets are ₦9,000 for both children and adults.
  • Standard tickets are ₦3,000 for children and ₦3,600 for adults.
  • You can book both morning and evening trips.
  • Payment at the train station is no longer accepted. You can only pay using bank transfer or your ATM card.

How to book:

  1. Visit the official e-ticketing website: https://nrc.gsds.ng.
  2. Register on the platform using your National Identification Number (NIN).
  3. Sign in to the platform using your email address and password.
  4. Select your journey.
  5. Provide passenger details.
  6. Enter your NIN.
  7. Select your train and seat(s).
  8. Proceed to payment using Flutterwave.

Beware of fraudsters:

There have been reports of fraudsters creating fake NRC websites to scam passengers. Be sure to use the official website to book your train tickets: https://nrc.gsds.ng.

The e-ticketing platform is a welcome innovation, but it is important to be aware of the challenges that passengers have faced. The NRC is working to resolve these issues and provide a more seamless and efficient online booking experience.
