Google Workspace Unveils AI-Powered Video Tool and Other Productivity Boosters.

15 Jun 2024

At Cloud Next ’24, Google Workspace announced a suite of new features designed to revolutionize workplace efficiency. These features focus on improving communication, collaboration, and document management.

1. Vids: Create Professional Videos in Minutes

The Workspace suite welcomes Vids, a cutting-edge AI tool that simplifies video creation. Vids offers an intuitive platform that auto-generates storyboards, suggests scenes, and integrates background music. Users can personalize their videos with custom voiceovers, making Vids a one-stop shop for video creation, editing, and scripting. This beta feature is expected to launch in June, marking a significant step forward for business communication tools.

2. Break Language Barriers in Meetings with Real-Time Translation

Google Meet is getting a boost with automatic caption translation. This feature translates captions into a user's preferred language in real time, supporting a whopping 69 languages. Scheduled for release in June, this feature aims to remove language barriers and facilitate seamless international communication. An additional AI Meetings and Messaging add-on (available for a fee) offers features like automatic note-taking, further enriching the meeting experience.

3. AI Takes Data Protection to New Heights

The introduction of the AI Security add-on represents a leap forward in safeguarding sensitive data within Google Drive. Utilizing advanced AI models, IT departments can now automatically identify and categorize sensitive documents, ensuring a vigilant defense against data breaches. This state-of-the-art security solution is currently available for select Workspace subscriptions, offering businesses an extra layer of data protection.

4. Organize Your Sheets and Docs with Ease

Spreadsheet enthusiasts will rejoice at the refreshed Sheets interface, featuring a new tables function for a more organized and visually appealing data management experience. Users will also benefit from pre-designed templates for common tasks like project management and event planning, saving them valuable setup time. Docs are getting an upgrade too, with the introduction of tabs for better document organization and the option for full-bleed cover images for a professional touch. These updates are expected to roll out to all Workspace users soon.

5. Write Emails Faster with Voice Commands and AI Assistance

The art of email writing is being reimagined with the addition of voice commands in the "Help me write" feature within the Gmail mobile app. Additionally, Gmail for premium Gemini users will offer an "instant polish" feature that transforms brief notes into well-structured email drafts. These functionalities will be available to Gemini Enterprise and Business customers, as well as Google One AI Premium subscribers, simplifying email creation on the go.

These advancements underscore Google Workspace's commitment to driving innovation and empowering businesses with the tools they need to thrive in today's digital world.
