Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making a big impact on businesses worldwide, and Africa is joining the AI revolution. A new wave of African startups is using AI to solve various problems, like healthcare, logistics, and farming. Google is stepping in to support these startups.

In August 2023, Google launched several programs, one of them being the AI-First initiative. This initiative helps African startups using AI with $350,000 in Google Cloud Credits and offers mentorship, technical guidance, and networking opportunities. Google's first batch of supported startups, called Google for Startups Accelerator, AI First, includes 11 companies that are using AI for positive change.

Some of these startups are using AI to improve healthcare and make it cheaper. Others, like Chatbot Africa, are assisting small businesses in going online, and Izifin from Nigeria is helping small businesses access credit. Google's support shows its dedication to innovation in Africa.

Here are the top startups in the program:

  1. Avalon Health - South Africa
  2. Chatbots Africa - Ghana
  3. Dial Afrika Inc - Kenya
  4. Famasi Africa - Nigeria
