Ghana's Complete Farmer secures $10.4 million in funding.

A Ghanaian agritech company, Complete Farmer, has secured $10.4 million in funding to transform farming practices in Africa. The funding round was co-led by the Acumen Resilient Agriculture Fund (ARAF) and Alitheia Capital, with participation from other notable investors.
Complete Farmer's mission is to bridge the gap in Africa's agricultural sector by developing critical technical and physical infrastructure. This infrastructure aims to enhance efficiency across the agricultural value chain, ultimately benefiting smallholder and commercial farmers.
The company's end-to-end agricultural marketplace connects African producers with global industries, providing access to competitive markets, resources, and data and fostering connections among stakeholders. By leveraging proprietary cultivation protocols, Complete Farmer empowers farmers to cultivate crops that meet global market specifications.

The Complete Farmer's journey began in 2017 and has since undergone several transformations. CEO Desmond Koney, a mechanical engineer, inherited his father's farm and recognized the challenges in the agricultural value chain. The company initially operated as a contractor, managing farms on behalf of clients. However, they pivoted to an aggregator and marketplace model, similar to Thrive Agric, to better serve their customers' needs.

With rapid growth and diversification of revenue streams, Complete Farmer has successfully brought together over 12,000 farmers across Ghana, overseen the cultivation of over 30,000 acres of land, and reduced post-harvest losses. Their innovative solutions, including CF Grower and CF Buyer, have enabled farmers to optimize productivity and gain access to global markets.
This recent funding will enable Complete Farmer to scale its products, establish strategic partnerships, strengthen its team, and expand operations in Ghana and beyond. It reflects the transformative potential of technology and innovation in Africa's agriculture sector, ultimately enhancing economic conditions and fostering sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
