Establishing Digital and SkillNovation hubs throughout states with the help of FG and Wema Bank

Wema Bank, the leading innovative bank in Nigeria, has joined hands with the Federal Government of Nigeria to establish state-of-the-art digital and skill innovation hubs across the country. The ambitious goal of this partnership is to empower one million youths with essential digital and relevant skills.

This collaborative initiative, named FGN/ALAT Digital and SkillNovation Hub, was finalized during a meeting between the bank's representatives and Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja. It perfectly aligns with President Bola Tinubu's administration's vision to create more digital job opportunities for the country's young population.

Wema Bank has been at the forefront of digital transformation in the banking sector and is fully committed to nurturing a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and growth. Moruf Oseni, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, expresses that this innovative project aims to revolutionize how young entrepreneurs and employees engage with technology, entrepreneurship, and skill development.

"The Digital & SkillNovation Hub is a prime example of our commitment to building a healthy ecosystem that supports Tech-Savvy Youth Entrepreneurs, Youth Entrepreneurs by Nature, and Young Employees, fostering sustainable economic growth across the country. To streamline digital activity, cooperation, and information sharing, this unified platform will incorporate cutting-edge digital tools, technology, and resources, according to Oseni.

The Vice President's office states that the Digital & SkillNovation Hub will initially be launched in Lagos and Borno States, followed by Katsina, Cross River, Anambra, Oyo, and Kano states. The core objective of the initiative is to offer financial solutions, training, and access to strategic partnerships, empowering young employees to become an integral part of Nigeria's workforce, especially those deployed through the NYSC program. The statement also highlights that experts will mentor 500,000 SMEs across Nigeria, while coaches will provide training and upskilling for business growth.

The Federal Government and WEMA Bank will work together to distribute awards worth N500 million to help SMEs and techpreneurs. Utilizing specialized tools and facilities, the FGN/ALAT Digital SkillNovation hubs will train one million young adults in software engineering, product management, business analysis, cloud computing, and product design. This forward-thinking project is anticipated to significantly contribute to Nigeria's economic development, youth empowerment, and innovation.
