Elon Musk reportedly seeks to create a chatbot to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT.

30 Apr 2023

According to a recent report by The Information, Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and co-founder of OpenAI, is allegedly seeking the help of AI researchers to create a chatbot that would rival ChatGPT, a high-profile chatbot made by OpenAI. This announcement comes just a week after Musk expressed his frustration with OpenAI's relationship with Microsoft, claiming that the company he helped establish as a non-profit organization had become a closed-source, profit-driven entity controlled by Microsoft.

Musk, who severed ties with OpenAI due to disagreements over the company's nonprofit status, has also been critical of the organization's approach to filtering out harmful content to make ChatGPT less biased, stating that they were "training AI to be woke." As a strong advocate for free speech, Musk has expressed his desire to create a chatbot with fewer speech restrictions that could be integrated into Twitter.

Reports suggest that Musk is recruiting several AI researchers, including Igor Babuschkin, a researcher who recently left Alphabet's DeepMind AI unit, to work on a new AI-centered project. While there are no concrete plans for specific products as of yet, the project aims to create a chatbot that would be less restricted in its speech and potentially integrated into social media platforms.
