E-commerce giant eBay has just announced that it has appointed Vidmay Naini as its new general manager for global emerging markets. This will be a critical role for eBay, as Naini will be responsible for overseeing eBay's growth in several regions, including Southeast Asia, India, Eastern Europe, Israel, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. With 18 years of experience at eBay, Naini has a proven track record of success. He has previously overseen the company's strategic investment in Flipkart and led its Southeast Asia and India businesses.
Naini's appointment comes as eBay seeks to expand its reach in emerging markets, where small and medium-sized businesses are driving growth in the digital economy. According to eBay's 2022 Southeast Asia Small Online Business Trade Report, almost all small businesses on eBay export items to an average of 25 different international markets each year. In Southeast Asia, a significant 68% of eBay-enabled small businesses in six countries export to 10 or more international markets. Naini is confident that eBay's business in the region will continue to grow substantially in the years to come.
