Google has launched the third cohort of its Black Founders Fund for Startups, which is open for applications in Africa and Europe. The initiative aims to support black-founded startups and is part of Google's commitment to digital transformation. The company has allocated $4 million to support eligible startups. Selected startups will receive up to $150,000 in equity-free cash awards and up to $200,000 in Google Cloud credits, along with training and access to a network of mentors.

According to Folarin Aiyegbusi, the Head of Startup Ecosystem at Google Sub-Saharan Africa, startups play a critical role in innovation, economic growth, and social progress, particularly in Africa.  The support offered to the selected startups will help unlock their potential and promote growth in the African tech ecosystem and the next generation of African tech entrepreneurs.

To be eligible for the Black Founders Fund, startups must operate and be headquartered in Africa or have a legal presence on the continent. They must also benefit the black community, have black founders or diverse founding teams, be building for Africa and the global market, and have the potential for growth, job creation, and measurable impact.

The deadline for applications for the third cohort is March 26, 2023. Startups interested in applying can do so by visiting
