Call for Applications: SAIS Investment Readiness Programme (IRP) for African Tech Startups

Are you a tech startup based in Africa, driven to make a significant impact in the agriculture, food, or climate sectors? If so, Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Startups (SAIS) is thrilled to announce its Investment Readiness Program (IRP), a year-long initiative designed to propel your growth and secure crucial investments.

About SAIS IRP

SAIS IRP, administered by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with co-funding support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to elevate incomes within the African agri-food sector by expanding the reach of established digital innovations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this transformative opportunity, your startup should meet the following conditions:

  • Official registration and operation within Africa.
  • Valid certificate of registration for your startup.
  • A dedicated team of at least two individuals working full-time for the startup.
  • Entrepreneurial and technical expertise relevant to your field.
  • A viable digital product or service with a positive societal impact
  • Digital products operate for a minimum of six months.
  • Evidence of traction, including a customer base and initial revenue generation.
  • A coherent and compelling business model addressing a defined problem, a clear digital solution, a distinct customer segment, and a transparent revenue stream.

Additional Considerations (not Mandatory)

While not mandatory, these factors will be considered during the selection process:

  • Female founders or women in high management positions
  • Founding team member with an IT background.
  • Prior startup experience among you or your founding team
  • Products catering to vulnerable customer groups.
