Microsoft plans to teach five million young people in Nigeria about information technology, artificial intelligence, and other topics, according to Mrs. Ola Williams, the company's country manager for Nigeria and Ghana.
The announcement was made by the country manager over the weekend during a dinner that Art of Technology (AOT) Lagos 4.0 organized with the theme, "Talent Acceleration and a Smarter Lagos." At the dinner, some guests received awards, while others received monetary grants from LASRIC.
She said that Microsoft, as a business, has partnered with Nigeria's federal government to provide the country's citizens with the digital skills they need to engage in the digital economy.
The youngsters who would be trained will come from Lagos State and other regions of the country because of the population of Lagos State.
To make sure that every young person participates in the training, we are collaborating with the federal government. We are visiting all six of Nigeria's geopolitical regions as well as the Federal Capital Territory. The Memorandums of Understanding we signed with (AOT) are primarily to work with the Lagos State government on digital issues and provide access to various technologies and artificial intelligence. They also give Lagos State government employees the right to modernize their working environments and ensure the security of all of their digital technology in the state, in line with the state's aspiration to become a digital state.
Since we have trainers in every region of the nation, no area would be excluded from the training. The Microsoft country manager added that in addition to the training, we work with the federal government in cooperation to equip banks with technology and Internet connectivity so that people who reside in remote areas may access the Internet and take part in the training.
