The African Tech Startup Forum (ATSF) 2024 is gearing up to unveil its maiden cohort comprising 160 innovative tech startups hailing from eight African nations. These startups, nurtured by industry titans, are primed to showcase their prowess after undergoing rigorous training and networking opportunities with fellow startups, established enterprises, and investors.
From this diverse pool, a select group of 20 standout firms will embark on a transformative study tour to South Korea, culminating in their participation at the prestigious COME UP KOREA event in December 2024.
ATSF, a pioneering initiative, is a collaborative effort between Ndarama Works and Korea Startup Forum, with support from UVU Africa, a leading tech incubation training partner. This groundbreaking program receives funding from the Korea Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Trust Fund, facilitated by the African Development Bank's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab.
At its core, ATSF functions as a Market Access and Acceleration Program, meticulously designed to equip, empower, and connect African tech ventures with both local and international opportunities. Combining virtual and in-person components, the forum serves as a platform to spotlight Africa's burgeoning tech innovations while fostering a conducive ecosystem for their growth.
Crucially, the forum is committed to amplifying the voices of women-owned tech enterprises, aiming for a minimum representation of 50% within its cohorts, thus celebrating the remarkable spectrum of tech skills exhibited by African women.
Central to the forum's mission is its incubation program, providing fledgling tech startups with vital resources, mentorship, and collaborative spaces essential for their development. Moreover, the B2B matchmaking platform facilitates strategic alliances between startups and established entities, while the Investor Sourcing facet connects promising ventures with eager investors keen on supporting groundbreaking initiatives.
With applications currently open for its inaugural cohort until May 10, 2024, ATSF invites tech innovators from Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Morocco, Rwanda, and South Africa across various sectors including AGTech, FinTech, HealthTech, and more. The second cohort, comprising 20 select businesses, will be chosen from the inaugural group, embarking on a transformative journey to South Korea later in the year.
