Apple Vision Pro Projected to Outperform Meta Quest 2 and Sony VR Sales by 2028

29 Feb 2024

In June last year, Apple announced the groundbreaking Apple Vision Pro, their inaugural 3D camera. Anticipation has been building as the launch date on February 2 approaches. Experts now forecast that Apple is poised to ship an estimated 350,000 units of the Apple Vision Pro within the first year of its release, making it a highly anticipated device that seamlessly merges digital content with the real world.

Analysts project an impressive trajectory for the Apple Vision Pro, with an estimated 1,475,000 units expected to be sold in the second year, marking a remarkable 321% increase. This significant growth is a testament to the uniqueness and appeal of this innovative product.

Looking ahead to the fifth year post-launch, industry experts predict a staggering 12,613,000 units of the Apple Vision Pro to be shipped, representing an extraordinary 3,504% increase from the 2024 figures.

In a surprising turn of events, Apple is expected to outperform its main competitors, Meta Quest 2 and Sony, by 2028. With projections indicating that Apple will ship over 12.6 million units of the Apple Vision Pro in its first five years, this surpasses both Meta and Sony's performance during the initial five years post-launch. Meta sold 10.4 million headsets during this period, while Sony lagged with 6.6 million units sold.

Considering the pricing landscape, the Apple Vision Pro comes with a price tag of $3,500, compared to Meta Quest 2 at $300 and Sony's offering at $399. This unexpected pricing dynamic underscores the high level of consumer trust in Apple's products.

Lee Astley from Techopedia commented, "Apple, a global favorite in the technological realm for smartphones, tablets, and computers, is making a significant entry into the VR headset scene. The predicted and projected sales numbers are awe-inspiring, underscoring the trust consumers place in Apple's products."
