Andela Launches Apprenticeship Program to Showcase Rwandan Tech Talent.

25 Apr 2023

Andela, a global network for remote technical talent, has announced the launch of its Andela Rwanda Apprenticeship Program, which is aimed at introducing global organizations to the potential of Rwandan tech talent. During the 12-week Andela Rwanda Apprenticeship Program, companies will have the opportunity to strengthen their teams by hiring graduate apprentices who have completed the Technical Leadership Program (ATLP). This accelerator program, in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, provides Rwandese nationals with the software engineering skills needed to become future tech leaders.

With a focus on teamwork, the ATLP imitates the practicality of a technology product environment, allowing participants to develop web applications using Javascript and associated frameworks. Having successfully trained 380 junior engineers from ten different African countries, the program boasts an employment rate of over 70% among its graduates.

Andela's developer apprentices have undergone intensive training in the PERN software stack and soft skills required to thrive as a professional in any distributed engineering team. Participating organizations are invited to offer a stipend directly to their apprentice, who will be tasked to add business value to their team's performance.

Andela Rwanda will support participating organizations throughout the program, including performance management via a strong feedback loop between the apprentice and the organization's team lead. Additionally, there will be monthly technical workshops and coaching sessions available to enhance the apprentice's knowledge and skills.

This unique program provides an opportunity for organizations to tap into the vast potential of Rwandan tech talent and contribute to the development of technical talent on the African continent. Organizations can find more information and register directly on the Andela Rwanda website.

According to Mike B Ndimurukundo, the Managing Director of Andela Rwanda, the Apprenticeship Program offers a unique opportunity for global organizations to collaborate with Andela's skilled and dedicated apprentices, which not only enhances their teams' performance but also contributes to the development of technical talent in Africa.

Andela Rwanda's mission is to help drive the growth of Africa's tech ecosystem by providing top-tier engineering talent to companies globally. The Apprenticeship Program is one of the many initiatives aimed at achieving this goal. The program will allow participating organizations to access a diverse pool of young and talented engineers from Rwanda who have received world-class training in software engineering and soft skills.

The program is open to companies of all sizes, and Andela Rwanda will provide support and guidance to ensure that the apprenticeship experience is a success for both the organization and the apprentice. By participating in the program, companies have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of tech growth in Africa while also benefiting from the skills and expertise of Andela's talented apprentices.
