Africa Tech Festival 2024 to Host in Cape Town with $1 Million Investment Opportunity for Startups

13 Oct 2024

The much-anticipated Africa Tech Festival 2024 is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from November 12 to 14, bringing together the continent’s most innovative minds in technology. One of the highlights of the festival will be the AfricaIgnite Pitch Competition, offering early-stage startups a chance to secure up to $1 million in investment.

Although this year marks the 27th edition of the festival, AfricaIgnite will only be in its second year, having debuted successfully last year. The pitch event is designed to connect founders with investors and key stakeholders, providing opportunities for funding and market exposure across Africa’s vibrant tech ecosystem.

Apart from AfricaIgnite, the festival will also feature a lineup of prominent events, including AfricaCom, AfricaTech, and the AI Summit Cape Town. Startups attending the festival will have access to invaluable networking sessions, such as the Founder and Investor Day, which aims to foster collaboration between founders and seasoned entrepreneurs.

Startups can also participate in the Matchmaking Programme, designed to facilitate connections between entrepreneurs and potential investors. The Startup Marketplace will serve as a platform for founders to showcase their innovations, build their brands, and engage with prospective customers.

The centerpiece of the event, the AfricaIgnite Pitch Competition, will offer startups the chance to present their ideas to investors in a live pitch format. The winning startup will move forward to compete in the prestigious Startup World Cup Grand Finale in the United States, where they will vie for a $1 million investment prize alongside top startups from around the globe.

Widely regarded as Africa’s largest tech and digital connectivity conference, the Africa Tech Festival is set to draw over 15,000 attendees, with more than 450 speakers and hundreds of exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions.

Held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, this year's event will explore how the evolution of technology and strategy is transforming industries such as telecoms, finance, healthcare, government, and retail across the continent.
