Ad Dynamo by Aleph has announced the appointment of José Gonsalves as the Managing Director for its East Africa operations. In this new role, Gonsalves will oversee the company's digital workstreams and deliverables.
The decision to appoint Gonsalves stems from his extensive expertise and experience. Having spent 15 years in the digital media space, he has worked with international corporations in both African and European markets. Notably, he was associated with Acceleration Media, where he managed clients such as ESPN North America and Microsoft. He later joined Media24 as the Digital Ads Operations Manager before becoming the Global Programmatic Manager at Addsuite, contributing to $25 million in billings to clients.
In a press statement shared with Technext, Ad Dynamo expressed confidence in Gonsalves, emphasizing his intimate understanding of the local nuances and agency experience in the East African markets.
Regarding his appointment, Gonsalves praised Ad Dynamo's resilience, noting the company's remarkable growth despite operating in a challenging business climate. He highlighted one key character trait of the company, its agility and ability to make quick and necessary decisions to better serve its clients.
Ad Dynamo, a subsidiary of Aleph Group, specializes in media sales and assists brands in reaching relevant customers across Africa. The company holds exclusive media buying extensions for brands like Spotify, Twitter, Snap, and Yahoo in the African market, helping clients reach digitally connected users through digital marketing.
Looking towards the future, Gonsalves sees vast opportunities in the coming months, particularly in the emerging technologies of AI and ML. He emphasized the importance of leveraging these trends ahead of competitors to sustain their growth. He envisions utilizing media buying as a tool rather than solely focusing on it.
Ad Dynamo expanded into Nigeria, focusing on high internet penetration and startup brands. The company launched Digital Ad Expert in 2022, aiming to upskill 50,000 digital learners. Stephen Newton became Managing Director for Africa, and Carl Jordan became Regional Sales Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.
