A4&T Power Solutions, a renewable energy company backed by The Eko Innovation Centre, has reached a major accomplishment in its effort to provide fair access to electricity in Nigeria. The company is collaborating with Ikeja Electric to introduce its innovative 2-Megawatt Mini Grid in Mojoda Community Epe as part of the Interconnected Mini-Grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS). The IMAS project, which aims to connect around 27,600 households and impact over 138,000 Nigerians in two years, is funded by the European Union, the German government, and Giz, and led by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) through the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP).
At the launch of the project, the Honorable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources in Lagos State, Engr. Olalere Odusote, praised the effort as a positive step towards universal access to sustainable energy in the state. He acknowledged the government's goal of generating 1 GW of solar PV by 2030 and expressed support for investment in the electricity sector.

The CEO of A4&T, Ayo Ademilua, shared the company's goal of providing reliable power to the community and integrating charging stations into fuel stations in the community to promote electric vehicles. The Epe mini-grid project, which is set to complete its first phase in 10 months, is expected to provide clean and sustainable energy to over 2,500 homes and businesses and serve as a model for future renewable energy solutions in Nigeria. The second phase of the project will expand capacity to 2 MW to cater to productive use and bring even more benefits to the community.

A4&T Power Solutions is dedicated to providing reliable power to the community, with a promise of a minimum of 23 hours of power supply and one hour reserved for maintenance. The CEO of A4&T, Ayo Ademilua, aims to take over the entire Epe franchise and integrate charging stations into fuel stations in the community to promote the use of electric vehicles.
Tunbosun Alake, the Special Adviser to Lagos State on Innovation and Technology, spoke highly of the project at its launch, saying that it will support the advancement of digital transformation and provide alternative energy options for digital businesses within the state. He emphasized that the initiative will greatly enhance the promotion of innovation and technology in Lagos and propel the growth of digital businesses. The government, represented by Alake, is fully supportive of investments in the electricity sector and partnerships with companies to promote off-grid electrification.
The first phase of the Epe mini-grid project is set to generate 0.88 MW of power and provide clean and sustainable energy to over 2,500 homes and commercial establishments in the Epe area. The completion of the first phase is set for 10 months from now, and it is poised to serve as a model for future renewable energy solutions in Nigeria. The second phase of the project is to expand the capacity to 2 MW, which will cater to productive use on an economical scale and bring even more significant benefits to the communities in Epe.
