A Comparison of Google Bard vs. ChatGPT In The AI Chatbot Wars

03 Jul 2023

Chat GPT, and Google Bard Everyone is talking about it, even I, hence this article. Have you ever wondered why these two are the most talked-about chatbots? Well, I guess you are about to find out why.

We are In a fast-growing world where AI has been both a blessing and a cause, there is even more competition now, mostly among industry titans, which continues to arouse users' interest, especially with the advent of Google Bard, which aims to combat the danger posed by ChatGPT to its search ad business.

Sincerely, I've been eager to put Google's recently announced Bard against OpenAI's chatbot in a competition and assess them based on their distinct capabilities and dedication to improving the user experience.

While ChatGPT has dominated the market since its inception in November 2022, Google's AI chatbot, Bard, arrived later after initial attempts proved difficult.

Both Bard and ChatGPT use language models, which means users key in a prompt or query, and the chatbots generate a human-like response. which means they have relatively similar results for the most part; nevertheless, there are several key differences that distinguish them. which are well detailed below.

  • Chat GPT Open AI is a specially tweaked version of OpenAI's Generative Pre-training Transformer 3 (GPT-3) or Generative Pre-training Transformer 4 (GPT-4), depending on the version, while Google Brad Pathways Language uses Model (PaLM 2).

  • Another aspect is the data source:ChatGPT was trained on a massive dataset of text, including Common Crawl, Wikipedia, books, articles, documents, and content scraped from the open internet—but its sources end in 2021, limiting the latest world events and research; ChatGPT Plus can search the web using Bing search, while Google Bard was trained on Infiniset, a data set. Bard may conduct real-time web searches to locate the most recent responses to queries and the most recent research using Common Crawl, Wikipedia, documents, and chats and dialogues from the internet.

  • A crucial component of the comparison between both chatbots is their pricing structures, which is another noteworthy difference between the two. Everyone can use ChatGPT for nothing; ChatGPT Plus is billed at $20/month to include access during peak times, faster response times, priority access to new features, and use of GPT-4, while Bard is free to users who have access.
With this in mind, Google Bard is primarily built for research, whereas ChatGPT is better at writing articles and telling stories, hence why my fellow authors out there are hella pissed at the creation of Chat GPT. but let's look on the bright side. These things aren't humans; they were created by humans, and no matter how you want to look at it, they can all assist and make whatever project you are working on less stressful.
