5G Technology and the Future of the Nigerian Economy.

26 Apr 2023

There is no doubt that the present Nigerian economy is going through difficulty, even though the economy has sprung back after the hard year of COVID-19. Now, the current economic situation is taking a toll on Nigerians; however, Nigerians should not be exempted from benefiting from the services of technology and innovations.

5G technology would benefit Nigerians across states and provide hope for Nigerians in various aspects of the economy. Hence, it is important to understand all that it entails, as they are known as the latest wireless innovation with elevated speed and connectivity for cloud computing, remote working, and edge devices. It is an excellent communication standard that comes with many benefits and will have a great influence on the economy.

As a result, the components of the 5G network system are as follows:

Enhanced Mobile Broadband which helps humans access multimedia content, services, and data. It aims to give higher bandwidth with greater latency for virtual reality, 4K media and augmented reality applications.

Massive machine communication facilitates the simultaneous collection of a large number of small data packets from various devices. It uses IoT to provide connectivity to a huge number of devices; however, it makes the work more effective.

Ultra Relaiblr Low Latency covers machine-to-machine communication, remote medical surgery and operations, mission-critical applications, and wireless industrial production and manufacturing.

5G technology will have an impact on healthcare, security, social, economic, education, and agriculture. This innovation will help facilitate improvements in the growth and development of the country. There is a greater future ahead when we embrace 5G technology; however, it has to be made available and secured.

Mr. Johnson Olotu, a web designer and a project manager, said, "I think it will take a while before Nigeria adapts to it, especially in this part of Africa, Nigeria." To consider the economy as a struggle for the average Nigerian, 5G technology may be costly to subscribe to, but it will have a significant impact on Nigerians.

Furthermore, with 5G in the health sector, hospitals, and clinics will be able to monitor patients remotely with a fast network that connects.

Organizations and factories will also enjoy smooth operations in financial transactions through digital applications. Hence, factories will be able to connect sensors and more devices that help them maximize their full potential with the technology, which in some ways can facilitate a better economy.

In the agricultural sector, we can experience quick processing and effective farming, which also include the prevention of disease with smartphones.

To help Nigerians not just start up organizations but also enjoy full usage, the full support of the government is germane and needed. However, Nigerians should try to also follow the advancement in technology, as it will go a long way in enhancing and improving the economy.
