Water Unite Impact (WUI) is an investment vehicle that provides risk-tolerant capital to innovative Small & Medium Enterprises in the water, sanitation and circular economy sectors in the Global South. This seeks to address the “missing middle” of investments that struggle to access Technical Assistance and access to finance. The vehicle was created by Water Unite, a global non-profit working to provide clean water for people and planet, and is managed by FCA authorised impact investment manager Wellers Impact. We unite corporate partners around a common collective action - namely to create a small micro-contribution from products and services to fill the funding gaps in the water sector. Large corporates including Co-op, Elior PLC and Britvic PLC have already joined Water Unite. Micro-contributions received by Water Unite, funds the innovative catalytic First Loss Tranche enabling leverage of Senior Capital from Investor Partners. Existing micro-contribution partnerships have already secured over US$10m committed to be invested into the catalytic first loss tranche, with total target capitalisation, including senior capital of US$50m. The origination pipeline is strong and WUI has commenced deploying capital with four investments completed.
