About

Home-Grown Solutions Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience in Africa is organised by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with support from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), is behind the program, which was conceptualized in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to realize the potential of local private sector solutions to strengthen the continent's pandemic resilience. It has since grown beyond an initial 2021 pilot in East Africa to its third edition. Businesses must be for-profit, in the growth or mature stage, focused on strengthening Africa's healthcare system, and described as a "Home Grown Solution" to qualify. The accelerator's goal is to accelerate home-grown solutions to strengthen Africa's pandemic resilience, in line with the African Union's Agenda 2063 aspirations, with the approach to provide tailored acceleration planning and support for companies that can meaningfully improve pandemic resilience across the continent.
